The Compasses Hotel - Chelmsford

The service was very good as we had expected.

The accommodation had a remote location once in the pub.

We had suite with excellent beds, furnishings etc, as example.

The area was muddy.

The hotel was set in a secluded area really close to the pub which offers fantastic food menu and real ale selection and nearby Leez Priory. The breakfast with black pudding, juice plus filter coffee was absolutely superb, had so much to choose from.

Really good breakfast options that stood out.

More attention needed to the cleanliness of the bedding.

My stay was good as I enjoyed an excellent selection of local beers and the food was so tasty that I found myself wanting to try everything from burgers to the famous huffers.

The room was cozy, but the underfloor heating was unresponsive.

Tucked away in the esex countryside, this place is super cozy with friendly staff makin u feel right at home. Our room was large and comfy, clean enuff for a good night's sleep. Snagged a tasty fry up for breakfast, best i had in ages! Love the local ales they serve too, great variety. Definitely a nice spot to chill or grab a meal.

only thing was the wi-fi wasn't great n the decor could use a little sprucin up.

I enjoyed a rustic retreat at The Compasses. Unique decor and a cozy atmosphere complemented the excellent local ales. Only downside was the occasional noise from staff during mornings. Perfect proximity to Leez Priory for a nearby wedding.

The Compasses offered a warm, cute ambiance with charming decor. The accessible room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed, with a spacious wet room equipped with rails.

Better lighting around pathways would be helpful.

Each room features unique decor and the staff provides friendly service. There's a bit of remote location trouble with no street lighting at night. Good for cyclists with a nice outdoor area.

I enjoyed my stay with cute warm clean rooms that opened directly onto the garden, making it easy to take relaxing strolls in the fresh air, and the food was hearty local fare that hit the spot after a day of exploring nearby landmarks like the Old Brewery just 1 km away and the Parish Church, about 3.5 km away, giving me plenty to discover with just a nice walk.

My kids wished there were more kid-friendly meal options.
